Good day, dear brothers and sisters in Christ. I pray this note finds you well and growing in your faith walk with Jesus.
This month, there are lots of things happening on our campus. On October 11th, Sunday at 2:00 pm, we will have our annual Church Conference gathering in the LEC, where we discuss and vote on business aspects of our church; celebrate ministry that has taken place; and thank the teams that have served and nominate the teams that will serve for the next year. All are welcomed to attend. While we are on the topic of serving, please let me* know if you would like to serve on one of the teams at our church. Christ calls us all to serve in one capacity or another. Here are a few of the teams we have at First Methodist: SPR – Staff Parish Relations (serve as the HR team for our mission); Finance (serve as the team that helps us be good stewards of the finances – both income and outgo – that support our mission) Trustees (serve as the team for ushers and helps us in the areas of fixing and maintaining our campus for our mission)
Then on October 23rd at 7:00 pm in the LEC, we will show a movie titled, “A Great Awakening”. This movie is a story about the life of Reverend George Whitefield and his friendship with Benjamin Franklin. John Wesley (see Methodism) has a featured role in the movie as well. Whitefield was a great preacher during the 18th Century that saw many people come to faith in Jesus Christ. Their hearts were stirred and awakened by the Good News of The Gospel. You won’t want to miss it!
On October 24th from 9:00 am to Noon, we will have our New Members Class for those who want to know more about our church and/or would like to become new members. As new members we are in covenant with Christ and each other to see our church’s mission fulfilled and to share our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness with our community.
