Are You Ready?
Every time we greet a new year, there is a sense of anticipation about things to come as well as hope for a bright future. I think that’s one of the things I like about celebrating the new year. It can be a time for self reflection and putting together a revised or new game plan in the hope of living a better life.
That’s exactly the kind of message Jesus brought to us as he began his ministry. Consider what he said to the fishermen who had been fishing all their life. He said “come and follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” (Mark 1:17) The early disciples must have thought what many of us have thought about life. There has to be more! And there is when you become a truth seeking, sold-out believer in the one and only Jesus Christ.
This is where you come in my friend. How close are you to God? How much time do you spend in walking, talking and praying to God? If you are like me, I can always do better in pursuing my personal relationship with God. So the next time I see someone hurting or losing hope, I can live out the part of me being a disciple of Jesus and pray for that person and make sure they know Jesus.
We are not fishermen unless we catch a “fish” sometimes. When is the last time you led some-one to faith in Jesus? I invite you to review your spiritual walk with Christ and consider the reflection questions below.
Methodism is a movement and a methodology of living out the Christian faith. Are you a part of a Sunday school class; a small Bible study group; do you attend Sunday worship; do you receive Holy Communion; do you live out personal daily, spiritual disciplines such as praying, journaling, reading scripture and singing hymns or praise songs?
I invite you to live out your spiritual journey with us, as an active part of First Methodist Clewiston.
Are you….ready?
The King is returning soon.
God bless you,
